As every year, each of the two laureates of the European Railway Award will be given a 10.000 euros money prize to be donated to projects or charities of their choice.

Eric Fontanel, awardee of this years’ Technical Award, chose to help the French association SNSM. SNSM comprises more than 4400 volunteer rescuers on boats and 1300 lifeguards spread over rescue stations and first aid stations on the beaches of France. SNSM saved 7100 lives in 2014. More information about the association can be found here: http://www.snsm.org/

Isabelle Durant, who will receive the Political Award, has decided to support Train World in its educative projects. Train World is the Belgian national rail museum, hosting NMBS/SNCB's heritage collection of historical rolling stock and related objects. More information about Train World can be found here: http://www.trainworld.be/en

Representatives from both organisations will be present on 16 February in Brussels.
